The Competition

13.02.17

Luckily or not, competition is what pushes everything in this world. In fact, SCIENCE explains that humanity is in this current dominant position thanks to we’ve been ferocious competitors throughout the history, in all senses. Always trying to get better and overcome new challenges.

Talking in SPORTS TERMS, being able to win is the ultimate goal to any project, whether professional or not. Even an irrelevant children's game, the goal is always to win because that's the essence of the competition itself and, no doubt about, is what each and every kid wants.

COMPETITION

PRACTICE

VS

PRACTICING is mainly, trying to do new and different things (usually uncomfortable for the players) with the aim of improving the performance in the MIDDLE OR LONG TERM.

COMPETING is exactly the opposite. It’s based on doing what you already know to do and take advantage of it as much as possible to achieve the prized SHORT TERM goal, winning.

PRACTICE (improving) and COMPETITION (winning) are highly arduous to complement

How to prevent COMPETITION becomes TOXIC to your team and your players?

·Establish the GOALS

Ambitious but realistics

·Have a good PLANNING

Elaborated, in line with the resources and flexible

·Make the IMPROVEMENT a competition

The player competes against himself, every day

·DON’T CHEAT on your players

Don’t promise things you won’t accomplish

*WINNING games

Never fails, if you win then everyone is happy

WINNING

IS EVERYTHING

THAT'S RIGHT!!

If you take two children to play 1x1, they will go crazy for trying to beat each other, because that's what our DNA says. And that’s not cruel nor bad but it’s necessary. The world we live in is based on winning over the other, always. That's why YOU HAVE TO TEACH THE CHILDREN TO COMPETE.

Competing IS

*Trying to win FAIRLY

*Being RESPECTFUL with the opponent

*LEARNING from losses (and wins too)

*IMPROVING yourself every time

*Being AMBITIOUS, always

Competing IS NOT

*Trying to win at ANY PRICE

*Being DISRESPECTFUL with the opponent

*Losing (or winning) doing the same MISTAKES

*NOT TRYING TO IMPROVE because thinks is already good enough

*SETTLE with one win
